How to read the Preá forecast
Same wind machine as Jericoacoara, but with an open beach and no tall dunes upwind — which means the forecast number resembles the wind you will actually find. It is the spot in the region where the model errs least.
Here the tide matters more than the wind. Cross the forecast with the tide table: the same wind strength produces completely different sessions on the ebb (flat strips along the sand) and at high tide (chop and more room). That is what the tide line under the chart is for.
What the model cannot see
Preá and Jeri are 12 km apart and their forecasts are practically identical. If you are deciding where to go on the day, decide on tide and crowd, not wind — the wind will be the same.
