The riding
Essentially the same regime as Cumbuco, less than 30 km away: east/southeast, side-onshore, building through the day. The difference is how many people share it with you.
The sea has chop and a wave section near the cliffs. Lagoa da Taíba is seasonal and offers flat fresh water when it is full — how full depends on that year’s rains.
Getting there
About 60 km from Fortaleza airport on paved road, roughly an hour. The village is much smaller and quieter than Cumbuco.

Worth knowing
The lagoon depends on rainfall. Check with a local school before counting on it.
A natural start or stop on downwinders along the western Ceará coast.
Frequently asked
Is Taíba better than Cumbuco?
It is better if empty water matters more to you than infrastructure. Cumbuco has more schools, more places to eat and more lodging; Taíba delivers similar conditions with a fraction of the crowd.
